Pine Coffee Table
24" x 66" x 17 1/2" high
Built using two old board and batten doors, one from a home on Regent
Street here in Ottawa. The door that is the table-top bears its original
hinges which are cast-iron. They do not have a removable pin, and
the research indicates they were made in the mid 1800's. That fact, and the
square nails, help date the doors.
The only new material are the legs, which are solid pine that have been tapered
and then dyed using a blend of analine dyes to match the pumpkin-pie shade of the
antique pine. The entire table was then protected with water-based
varathane.
